Full Circle Sanctuary

Stay in-tune:

The Full Circle Sanctuary is property based in Long Creek, SC hosting our community benefit, our natural landscape company, and future endeavors including this building project by The Backwoods Visitors Center Community Shoppe that will temporarily house women and their children after escaping abuse in the home. This secret space will allow these families a moment to breathe in a safe environment in order to start working on their next steps forward for a better life.

How can I help?

  1. Donate your time: If you would like to volunteer time to help organize this build including other fundraising efforts, or would like to volunteer for the actual build, please reach out through our Facebook group.

  2. Donate monetarily: Your monetary donations will be applied to a fund that will help purchase additional materials needed and any fees etc associated with the build. Please donate through our Ko-Fi page and consider becoming a member!

A land space and an unassembled cedar cabin have been donated to this cause already. We will also be trying to use as much material from the land as we can.

I hope you'll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me. Every little bit will help us reach our goal.

Make a donation.

Help us make this safe space a reality in our community.

This cedar cabin has been disassembled and donated, ready to relocate to its future forever home-site

Why I Am Passionate About Creating Full Circle Sanctuary

I have always been an advocate for women.

As the years in my life have gone by, the number of domestic violence cases I’ve worked with kept increasing. I was able to help as much as a single mama barely living paycheck to paycheck could, by housing women in my camper (burned down spring 2022), a job helping at the shoppe, a community garden space, an art workshop, and work-trade opportunities as needed. But even though there weren’t many extra expenses, they still were coming out of pocket.

I couldn’t not help when asked, and I wouldn’t change a thing… but I knew if I wanted to be able to do more and without stretching so much to the red zone or beyond, I needed to think of a solution if I wanted to continue being of assistance.

Thankfully, I love the challenge of finding solutions.

So a solution I prepared.

There are few things folks NEED for independence without help from others:

  1. Income
Okay there is technically only one thing, because we live in this world, BUT with income, we also need:

  2. Affordable childcare during working hours, if applicable

  3. Housing

  4. Food
With those immediate needs taken care of, income can further provide:

  5. Vehicle

  6. Permanent housing

  7. Additional food

  8. Miscellaneous (clothes and other needs like that)

Over the last six years of riddles, I’ve progressed to these solutions:

  1. Running a small (growing!) landscaping business that employs women for part-time, full-time, temporary, or year round positions

  2. Being in the process to work out a forest school-type care system during the hours we work (don’t have a name yet for this and will be based on our official end title after registering. For now I’ve been using “forest care program” )

  3. Working on this temporary housing build

  4. Getting the Community Garden back in action, club and all! Along with continuing to grow the perennial edible landscape that has slowly been established over the years. There is also a future nursery project in the works that the forest care program kids will get to help with as wanted, and the plants grown with be sold through the landscaping company to clients and plant sales to the public as fundraisers for the forest care program.

A literal full circle sanctuary

And the beauty of it is, besides housing, all of these resources are/will also be available to the greater community.
